“Th[o/e]se Days” is a new collection of photos by Shahin Shahriari & Sina Bagheri. For this collection, they had used pictures of the Iranian Revolution of 1979 and merged them with the new shots of the same spots in Tehran today.

Talai (Golden) Book Series was a collection of simplified and abridged classics for kids published by Amir Kabir publication company in Tehran during the 1960s and 1970s. Their affordable price made them very popular among many children. For many, these books were their first introduction to the world literature.

Tehran’s Amirabad Neighbourhood (2012)
“Amirabad is the neighbourhood that I have lived in more than any other place in Tehran.” says the photographer, Roozbeh Shahrestani. “These two sets of photographs are actually more than a personal report; it is a personal time travel to a relatively distant past by wandering along streets and alleys of this district of the city.”

The stereoscopic pictures here are European postcard published in early 20th century. Stereoscopy refers to a technique for creating the illusion of depth in an image by presenting two offset images separately to the left and right eye of the viewer.

What can be seen on the rooftops in Tehran?
In the last century the rooftops of the houses along with the lifestyle of Iranians have changed.

These postcards were drawn by the political cartoonist Kem (Kimon Evan Marengo 1907-1988), who during the Second World War produced over 3,000 propaganda cartoons for the British Ministry of Information.

Niches and shelves are still a very important part of the style in older homes in town and villages in Iran. They not only have a functional role to hold and store objects but also are used to display interests and beliefs of the owners.
