Discussing her pictures the photographer, Samin Ahmadzadeh, says: “This series was taken from a single location in Tehran on a street famed for its shopping. The movement of people as they negotiate their way through the crowds provided a sense of theater from the everyday. Light from the shop windows illuminates single faces in this flowing crowd, guiding the eye around the picture and allowing a focus on a personal space.”

This house near Ferdowsi Square was built by the Russian architect Alexander Belyn in 1938. Belyn was working for Kampsax – a Danish construction company founded in 1917 which had several projects in Iran, including the construction of 900 km of cross-country railroads.

The Tehran Opera Company was founded in 1967 by the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Art. The company was active until 1978. It officially ended its activities after the Iranian revolution. This booklet is the company’s program for 1974-1975 season.

The pictures here are taken in Tajrish, Tehran, on March 20th 2014, 5 hours before the beginning of the Persian new year.

The old headquarters of Ettelaat publishing company from the 1930s is located in Khayam Street, Tehran. Ettelaat newspaper is the oldest Iranian newspaper in Persian, still being published.
